SPIDER INK / IDEAS & ADVICE
Large tattoo projects
A large tattoo project takes experience, patience and careful planning. It might cover a full back, sleeve, leg or the front of the torso, or form part of a full-body composition.
Our first suggestion is to consider a consistent style for a connected piece. A full-body project may use different styles on separate areas. Discuss the idea with an experienced artist before starting, so the composition, placement and connections between its elements are thought through.
We prefer to plan the complete project in advance. A digital mock-up on your photograph can help you visualise the proposed placement and overall design; it is a preview rather than a guarantee of the healed result. Once the plan is clear, sessions can be arranged around healing, your schedule and budget.
Adding unrelated designs over a long period can make it harder to connect them later, particularly when their styles differ. A clear composition helps avoid that difficulty.
We enjoy creating tattoos with personal meaning and motivation, but a design can also be chosen simply because you find it beautiful. These are suggestions, not rules: art allows freedom. Choose something that feels right to you, and enjoy the process of expressing yourself.
