Getting tattooed in winter

Winter can make it easier to keep a fresh tattoo out of direct sunlight. As discussed in our other
articles, healing needs attention in every season. In winter, choose clothing that does not rub or stick to the area and follow your artist’s dressing instructions. In summer, plan around sun exposure, swimming and holidays. Keep a new tattoo out of direct sun and avoid swimming until it has healed; sunscreen is for healed skin. Larger projects may be easier to schedule over the colder months. Ask your artist for individual aftercare instructions, and contact a healthcare professional if you are concerned about healing.
